This City was part of the silk route in Central Asia. It was founded in the 9th century by the karakhanidas empire, a dynasty that reigned in central Asia. Today we can see some remains of the city as mausoleums or the minaret known as the 25 m high Burana tower, initially it was a 40 meter high minaret. But after the 15th century one earthquake destroyed the upper half. The tower can be seen to be slightly inclined. You can climb to the top of it. There is a legend about it.
